Today in the Dar es salaam region the price of petrol (Bei ya petrol) shows that it is sold at Sh3, 410 per liter, diesel at Sh3, 322 and kerosene at Sh3,765 per liter. But starting tomorrow, petrol will be sold for Sh2,969, Diesel Sh3,125 and Kerosene will be sold for Sh3,335. These fuel prices are for the Dar es Salaam region.

According to to Director General of EWURA, Lumato, the fall of the prices of Fuel products is due to the decrease in oil prices in the world market.

Oil prices in the world market for July 2022 have decreased compared to those prices for June 2022.

“Therefore, fuel prices in the local market have also decreased by Shs 271 per liter and Shs 362 per liter for petrol and by Shs 430 per liter for kerosene compared to the subsidized prices of August 2022.

Regarding the price of diesel, the statement explained, “For diesel fuel, if you leave the price of Tanga which drops by Sh13 per liter, the prices for September 2022 have increased by Sh37 per liter and Sh86 per liter in Dar es Salaam and Mtwara, compared to the prices with grants for August 2022.

In order to continue to reduce the effects of the increase in diesel prices in this country where many economic activities depend on diesel and also to reduce the difference between the prices of petrol and diesel, the Government has given a subsidy of Sh65 billion to reduce the prices of oil for September 2022.
